The Hottest Fashion Pieces From Instagrammers This Month
19/08/07 16:48:00

Since the amazing creation of Instagram came along, it’s been one of our top trend resources. WGSN and Style Sight obviously provide a completely different kind of trend information but Instagram lets us see what popular and influential people are wearing, right now and from all over the world. With Instagram, it’s actually so much more than a social media application, at least to those in the fashion industry – we can use Instagram to see what’s trending in any part of the world, see how real women have interpreted the fashion forecasts and even how they’ve styled that must have shirt shape for Summer.

In fact, some businesses have even taken the power of Instagram even further. They allow all of their decision making in terms of which designs to sell, which colors work best, which pieces they should bring back to their range etc., to all be determined through Instagram polls. In this way, they give their ideal client a voice, they listen to it and they give them what they want.

I’m of course not suggested you follow this business model (for any of you entrepreneurs out there!) it’s relatively new and may not be as accurate as it first seems for a number of factors. But what you can do, is use Instagram for more than cute selfies and looking at pugs in pajamas. Search the hashtag #OOTD Which stands for Outfit Of The Day and you’ll immediately be bombarded with tons of research, from every demographic, from all parts of the globe and it’s all free! Lucky for you, we’ve taken the leg work out the research for this month so let’s take a look at the hottest pieces of fashion from Instagrammers this month, how they’ve styled it and how our trend forecasts have been translated.

Fashion, life and beauty YouTuber Thalita Ferraz is rocking the rust color trend that has been most popular in bridalwear. This sweet crop top is from Finders Keepers and we love the way she’s styled it with whites and nudes to allow the rust to really pop. It has an all over micro print of butterflies which adds to the sweetness of this style while the balloon sleeves aren’t just a statement but are super comfortable too. It’s definitely a Summer look considering the micro shorts she’s paired it with but this piece can easily be styled for Fall when the weather gets more chilly – simply layer over a spaghetti strap midi dress or a flowy maxi skirt, add some Fall boots and you’re good to go. A little research tells us this top is also available in bright red if rust doesn’t work for you and the print and sleeve style has been translated into many other complimentary pieces like a midi dress with a thigh high split, a retro double strap dress and even a maxi skirt for the ultimate in matchy matchy style.

Shiva Khakian brings you all of her favorite outfit inspirations from high fashion brands and this week one of her posts was all about this serious ruffle dress from the one and only Zimmermann. In case you hadn’t noticed, ruffles are really in right now (did they ever really go out?) and Zimmermann, the King of the statement piece has brought us this multi ruffled dress, full of texture and whimsy. They styled it with a contrasting thick waist belt that looks just as harsh and minimalist as the dress does feminine and complicated, providing a clash of style that compliments each piece. This a brilliant dress for transitioning seasons, lightweight enough for the coolest of Summer days and the long length sleeves and high neck are ideal for crisp Fall days. Pair with hosiery and a warm coat and you’ll even be able to wear this in Winter.

San Francisco based blogger Authentically Allyson is also rocking a rust colored blouse this week, this time in a more burnt orange shade. It’s the sleeves that we were really drawn to as well as that crisp silky fabric with unbelievable sheen. This is a great piece to have in your closet, a classic style that can be worn to lunch, to work or even to date night and the on trend, statement color is a breath of fresh fashion from the usual neutrals and blacks we see from this style of blouse. We also love the subtle detail here, the cuff isn’t quite skin tight, it’s more relaxed, giving a softer approach to this timeless sleeve shape.

Blogger Francynipina is giving us all kinds of Fall vibes with this outfit inspiration. She’s layered a printed pinafore dress over a classic black roll neck sweater, giving us slight vintage, rock-a-billy vibes. The way she’s styled herself is what really makes this outfit, the hat, the sunglasses, the slick of red lipstick. She looks like a girl who knows who she is and what her style is supposed to say about her. Of course, we can also tell that she’s practical, finishing this outfit off with a pair of white sneakers because let’s be honest, they’re comfortable, practical and on trend with athleisurewear – why not!

Instagrammer Elizabella is giving us a taster of her outfit of the day this month in the form of a button down A Line midi dress. Her repeat print dress is papered with palm trees motifs, giraffes, zebras, flamingos and more with a base of khaki showing a comical side to safari chic. Another great piece to have in your closet as it’s unique yet versatile and we love that there’s an option to leave a few buttons at the hem undone to create as much or as little of a split as you want.

So there you have it, our top picks from real women, from all over the globe, this is how they’re dressing right now and from what we can see, they want versatility, the ability to wear the garment in more than one season and cute animal prints are definitely winning!
