Each season, the iconic color referencing system Pantone releases their trending color palette to aid designers and trend forecasters. While there’s always a good selection to choose from, one color in particular always receives a larger accolade in the form of Color of The Year. This is the color you’re likely to see popping up everywhere in ready to wear garments to fashion accessories and even mobile phone covers. When designers are ready to choose colors for their collections, they will often choose classic neutrals like ivory, black and nude and of course the trending colors of the moment, including the color of the year, in the hopes to maximize sales. Previous colors of the year have included the ultra violet of 2018, that rich lime green of 2017 and the pale pastel pink of 2016. Pantone has been influencing product development for over 20 years and after in depth research into trend analysis and scouring the world for new color influences, they have finally come to a decision for the new year.

Wear It As A Statement Accessory

The easiest way to bring Living Coral into your closet is through a statement accessory. Whether your obsession is bags, shoes, scarves or jewelry, you can pull Living Coral into your outfit through any accessory, adding a quick injection of color. To make this work, keep the rest of your outfit colors subtle and neutral, blacks, grays, creams and earthy tones will work best, allowing the statement color to stand out.

Tone It Down With Navy

Living Coral looks flawless when paired with navy and is a great way to wear the color without it being too demanding. Color block your outfit with shades of navy and coral and finish off the look with white accessories or jewelry. Color blocking is all about layering and building dimension, it’s also a very flattering look that, when styled properly, can streamline the figure. Try building a color blocked separates outfit from a fitted t-shirt, blazer jacket, skinny pants and an oversized scarf.

Living Coral Matching Sets

Matching sets are still a big trend for 2019 and you know what they say, go big or go home! If you’re feeling daring, try a matching set in full living coral or a more pastel version. A chic skirt and top suit will create a versatile outfit, taking you from the office to dinner, no change needed. For days when a full coral ensemble simply won’t do, you can always pull one piece out to mix and match with other garments – a coral skirt will go a long way!

Use It In A Bold Print

Another great way to incorporate Living Coral into your outfit is to use it in a bold print. With the Spring months approaching fast, a bold printed jumpsuit is the way to go. Opt for bigger prints rather than small ones to be the most on trend and you’ll find yourself wanting to wear your printed coral jumpsuit for every occasion.

Pull Coral Into Your Makeup Routine

If you find bright colors daunting but still want to embrace the Living Coral trend, simply choose some coral hues for seasonal makeup. A slick of coral lipstick, a coral eye shadow palette or even coral tinted blush will pull your look into 2019 no matter what color you wear on your body.

On The Runway

We’ve already seen numerous designers using Living Coral in their SS19 collections. Marc Jacobs used various shades of coral and blush to create an all pastel collection for daytime as well as full feathered gowns in pink and orange coral tones for evening. Over at Prada, Miuccia used coral in her camisoles while Joseph Altuzarra drew inspiration from the beach, punctuating his resort style dresses with seashells. Living Coral and shades either side were also seen on the runway in the form of midi shirt dresses, pleated tops and knitwear – showing off how diverse the color of the year really is.

No matter whether you choose to go all in with Living Coral or if you’re just not sold on the vibrant pastel, one thing is for sure, it’s going to be everywhere in 2019!
