The British Ministry of Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) is the first state department of the world to put forward the concept of "creative industries", which has defined the industry in the Creative Industries Mapping Report as an industry that derives its wealth and employment potential through the development and use of intellectual property, through its own creativity, skills and talents. The department has divided the creative industries into 13 categories: advertising, architecture, art and antiques, computer and video games, handicrafts, design, fashion design, film and television, music, performing arts, publishing, software, television and broadcasting.
